Go to your local bulk grocery store, and pick up a case of M&M minis in the tubes. Create a small card with instructions on what you want the person to do. Tie instructions onto each tube with ribbon or string. This is an honor system type of fundraiser.
Exampe:
Step 1: Enjoy your M&M Minis on me!
Step 2: Fill the tube with quarters
Step 3: Return the tube to me at church. (You can also put your address or phone number)
Each tube holds $15 in Quarters, and there are about 24 tubes per case. If you get $15 worth of quarters per tube and you have 24 tubes, that’s $360 per case. I believe we paid $35 per case for them from Sam’s. Your profit would be $325.
You can do this fundraiser all year long. Every two weeks over the year – 26 weeks worth of time, you could raise $8,450! You don’t have to keep this to just your church either. Friends and family are awesome to help this way too!
Send a letter to all of your friends, family, and anyone else you think might like to see you be able to make this awesome trip! Be sure to include a self addressed envelope in case they decide they would like to bless you financially, you will already be helping them get the money back to you quickly.
Be sure to let them know that you are requesting help in several different ways: Prayer for protection and safety during the trip itself for you and your traveling companions, you need financial assistance, and it they are willing and able to assist with that, it would be wonderful as well. Make sure you let them know what we will be doing (you could include a copy of the itinerary), how long we will be gone, how much you are trying to raise, etc.
You might also let them know to friend you on Facebook, and you will post pictures and comments about your trip while you’re over there to keep them informed!
Be sure to include your PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp usernames in your letter if you choose to accept payments/donations in this manner.
My son did the letter on his first mission trip and raised almost $4,000 – which was about $500 more than he actually needed for the trip, but they used the extra for the mission itself!
On his second mission trip to Zambia, he was gone for 6 months and had to raise about $18,000 between him and the other guy that was going with him. They did videos and posted them on YouTube.com, on Facebook, Instagram, etc. Everywhere you can think of, there they were! They raised all but about $2,200 before they left and during their trip, Zach’s new girlfriend (now his wife) put on a garage sale at the church and raised the $2,000 and his mother pitched in the last $200!
Get together with your friends and ask the people at your church to donate items to sell at your bake sale. If you have quite a few participants, you can reap big profits towards your trip!
My husband makes an amazing salsa… seriously amazing! Normally he sells it for $6 a pint when he’s just ‘selling salsa’, but he will make several batches and sell them for $8 a pint when we are doing fundraisers for missions or other trips! When we first got married, we made and sold salsa sometimes for rent money! (true story!).
He can get 60 jars of salsa in a batch, and when he sells them for $8 each we can make as much as $480 a batch. Then, less expenses of about $60 for supplies, we come out at about $420 a batch. If we do about 5 batches, especially around Christmas/Super Bowl, etc., we end up with about $2,060.00!
Do a search for ‘Fundraising Ideas’… you will not believe how many great ideas pop up!
Baby heart cheesecakes for $15 each! This takes a bit more $ for supplies, but you can add cherries/strawberries on top and then also do some chocolate dipped strawberries for an extra $1.50 each… start taking orders mid-January for this one to be a success!!!
This is a good one for a church or business to do. When Fall is in the air get people in the spirit of all things fall! Apple Cider, Games, Local Crafts, Kettle Corn, and Music. Put together a festival.
- Rent out booth space for local vendors of all kinds.
- Do your own concession stands (hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, hot chocolate, cinder, chips, candy, etc.)
- Have big yard games available, 3 legged race, face painting, cake walk, etc.
- Door Prizes! Sell raffle tickets for door prizes. Get the door prizes donated. This is an opportunity to raise lots of money depending on the kind of door prize you have.
